The idea of just hiding them all around to be found with your camera seems like they all had really fun and it signaled Kojima’s habit of making quirky cameos throughout the series. The Ghost devs are probably my favorite easter egg hunt in any video game ever. Now, why am I putting this after my love letter to Auron? Well, the simple fact that it is incredibly cheeky. They may be alive in the real world, but in the games, they’re pure ghost. Really I just love this character and I hope his story hasn’t ended and we see something of him in future games. There is a very good reason why out of all of the Final Fantasy 10 characters in Kingdom Hearts, he gets the most screen time and character development that actively improves upon what has been established. He isn’t forced to be quirky, he doesn’t do something stupid that is expected to be funny or endearing, and he has one of the greatest transitions from cutscene to combat in gaming history. Scary music with Alma stepping out to go boogity boogity boo. You would think that maybe they’ll let up and stop being so predictable and it lulls you into a sense of safety, but NOPE. No matter where or when, if you had to climb a ladder, Alma was there for a jump scare. She’s not scary, but god damn it if she didn’t make ladders scary. Now almost everyone from my girlfriend to my best friend has told me repeatedly that Alma is not scary… I actually agree.
